Finishes

The most important aspect of your custom built picnic table is the final finish.  We finely sand all of our picnic tables to remove any imperfections and prevent splinters.  We offer the option of finishing your picnic table by staining or painting.  Due to the time required for staining or painting there is an additional charge for this service. 

We want you to be happy with whatever finish you choose so we are pleased to offer our customers the option of seeing a sample of the final finish by providing samples.  There is no charge for samples, but there is a charge for shipping, which is a $20 flat rate nationwide.  Please note that this will add some additional time to the production process.

Staining (+$125):

We use Minwax interior stain on our tables since our picnic tables can also be used indoors.  The stain options available are shown in the chart below (subject to availability). If you choose a stain option at checkout, please contact us to let us know your choice of stain (or we will contact you to confirm).  If you are trying to match an existing color, please note that the species and age of the wood will all impact the final color of the stain.  There is no guarantee we will be able to match the color exactly to the stain that you choose.  Our accessories can also be stained to the color of your choosing.  If your table will be used outdoors, we highly recommend the use of an exterior spar urethane.  

Spar Urethane (+$75):

Without the use of a topcoat on the stain, the stain will quickly fade from UV exposure when used outdoors. An exterior spar urethane is recommended to prolong the color of your table and also serves as a barrier to rain and moisture.  You will most likely need to reapply the spar urethane every couple of years to preserve the table.  The use of a cover over your table when not in use is also recommended to prolong the finish.  We offer a spar urethane exterior finish in satin, semi-gloss, and gloss.  If you choose a spar urethane option at checkout, please contact us to let us know your choice of sheen (or we will contact you to confirm). We will use multiple coats for added durability. 

Painting (+$150):

We will work with you to paint your table to a color of your choosing.  We will first start with a primer to ensure a uniform color when the paint is applied.  We will then use an exterior grade paint for durability (we prefer Valspar Duramax).  We will do our best to acquire the color of your choice, but the colors are subject to availability in our area.  If you choose a paint option at checkout, please contact us to let us know your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice of color and sheen (satin or semi-gloss), or we will contact you to confirm.  We will try to get your 1st choice, but if it is not available, we will then try to obtain your 2nd or 3rd choice.  Our accessories can also be stained to the color of your choosing.  There is also nothing wrong with saying "I want a Red, White, and Blue, All American Picnic Table!" and we will make it happen.
